How to download your e-book software

We're giving away 100 free e-books a day so make sure you don't miss out!

Technology is an essential part of our lives, and aside from receiving your Emerald Street email in your inbox everyday, how do you use it and what new tech advancements are on the horizon?

From 9 – 13 March, Emerald Street will be bringing you Tech Week when avid bookworms will have the chance to download a different free e-book every day, from books you should definitely read to books that aren’t even published yet. We predict you will find it very hard to take your eyes off your ereader in the next few weeks.

There are only 100 ebooks to download each day and they will be available on a first come, first served basis, so we advise you get your software ready now to get ahead of the masses. Just decide where you want to download it (computer, Apple device or Android device) and follow the instructions below…

Downloading an ebook onto your computer

1. If you would like to read your free ebooks on your computer, you will need to download the free ebook reader software from Adobe Digital Editions. Do this now by CLICKING HERE.
2. During the installation process you will be asked to ‘Authorise Your Computer’- do this be selecting ‘Adobe ID’ as the eBook Vendor. Your Adobe ID will be the email address that you used to create the Adobe account. Please ensure the email address matches the address you used to subscribe to Emerald Street. If the addresses do not match, then you will not be able to open the ebook file that you have purchased.
3. You are now ready to download your first ebook as soon as it appears on your Emerald Street email.

Once you have downloaded the correct software with which you can view your ebooks, you will need to download your FREE ebook.

1. Click on the Emerald Street FREE ebook ad on your daily email (appearing from 9-13 March) and input your details into the data fields. If you are successful, you will receive an email from Bloomsbury Ebooks to the email address you input (we will have a lot of requests, so please bear with us if this takes a few hours).
2. Open the email from Bloomsbury Ebooks.
3. Click the Bloomsbury ebook ‘download page’ link – this will open a web page.
4. Click ‘download ebook’ now.
5. Click on the downloaded file (the file will have ‘Acsm’ at the beginning of the file name). This will open Adobe Digital Editions and download the ebook to your computer. The ebook will automatically be stored in a My Digital Editions folder on your computer (in ‘My Documents’ folder on Windows, Documents or a Mac).
6. You can then transfer the ebook from your computer to a compatible device – your ebook can be stored on up to 6 devices (including your computer).

Downloading an ebook onto your iPhone or iPad (requires iOS 6.0 or later)

1. If you would like to read your free ebooks on your iPhone or iPad, you will need to download the free ebook reader app from Bluefire Reader from the Apple iTunes store. Do this now by CLICKING HERE.
2. Ensure the Bluefire Reader app is authorised with your Adobe username and password (you will need to create an Adobe account if you do not already have one).
3. You are now ready to download your first ebook as soon as it appears on your Emerald Street email.

Once you have downloaded the correct software with which you can view your ebooks, you will need to download your FREE ebook.

1. Click on the Emerald Street FREE ebook ad on your daily email (appearing from 9-13 March) and input your details into the data fields. If you are successful, you will receive an email from Bloomsbury Ebooks to the email address you input (we will have a lot of requests, so please bear with us if this takes a few hours).
2. Open the email from Bloomsbury Ebooks.
3. Click the ‘download your Bloomsbury ebook’ link – this will open a web page.
4. Click ‘download now’.
5. Click ‘open in…’ and select ‘Bluefire Reader’.
6. Alternatively you can drag and drop the ebook file into the Bluefire App in iTunes when your device is connected to your desktop.

Downloading an ebook on your Android device

1. If you would like to read your free ebooks on your Android device, you will need to download the free ebook reader software from Adobe Digital Editions (see ‘Downloading an ebook onto your computer’ above and follow instructions 1-3 and 1-6).
2. Once completed, download the free Aldiko Book Reader from Google Play by CLICKING HERE.
3. Using the navigation menu on the top left of the screen, select ‘About’ and then select ‘Adobe DRM’ and enter your Adobe ID details.
4. Connect your device to the computer that has Adobe Digital Editions installed.
5. Go to the ‘My Digital Editions’ folder on your computer and select the ebook you have purchased (this is stored in ‘My Documents on Windows and ‘Documents’ on a Mac).
6. Copy the ebook file into the internal or external storage of your device.

One entry is permitted per household, and no bulk or third party entries are permitted.
This promotion is open to all UK residents except our employees, the companies or organisations with whom the competition or offer is being run, their agents, or anyone directly connected with the promotion.
Proof of entry will not be accepted as proof of receipt of entry.
If we run a promotion with a promoter where that promoter is responsible for the provision of the offer or prizes then ShortList Media will not be responsible for or have any liability for the provision of those offers or prizes.
We reserve in all cases the right to replace the stated prizes with other prizes that we consider to be of broadly equivalent value. We offer no cash alternative for non-cash prizes, and prize winners must accept prizes in the form offered. Prizes are not refundable or transferable.
The winner may be required to sign a statement proving their eligibility/liability.
The closing date for receipt of entries is as stated for each individual promotion. 100 winners will be drawn from the first 100 valid entries, and will be notified by email within 24 hours of the closing date and time. If the winner fails to respond within three days of being informed of their win, their prize will be forfeited and a new winner selected.
Detail of winners can be obtained by sending a SAE marked [name of promotion] to ShortList Media Ltd, 26-34 Emerald Street, London WC1N 3QA, United Kingdom within 21 days of the closing date of the promotion.
Details of all entries will be kept on a database and will only be passed to third parties to enable analysis or the processing of the competition and prize fulfillment unless you specifically allow the data to be shared. This is the only occasion when another organisation apart from Shortlist Media will have access to your information. Data will only be shared with the competition partner when you consent to it by ticking the box on an offer or competition. The sponsor will be clearly named in the text next to the tick box and if the box is not ticked your data will not be shared. Any use will be in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
All entrants to competitions and offers are deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them, and agree to co-operate in any publicity that may arise which may include their name or image being used on websites, magazines or mobile services at any time as a result of the promotion.
We reserve the right to disqualify or not award a prize to an entrant who in our opinion has not entered in to the spirit of these terms and conditions or the intention of the promotion.
Suppliers cannot be held responsible for the breakdown in communication systems or networks that may result in a text message not being registered or a text message not being delivered correctly.
